Mark August 13th on Your Calendar

August 13th is the day of the Kahler Glen BBQ, Music and Silent Auction Charity event. Music and beverages and the silent auction start at 5 PM at the Athletic Club. The BBQ will be fired up and ready by 5:30 pm. This is a family friendly event with live old time Rock and Roll music provided by the EvinRudes.  The silent auction is helping our community to become safer and more supportive within the great Lake  Wenatchee and Plain area. The recipients of the funds from the event will be the Emergency Medical Technicians from the Cascade Hospital District, the Chelan County’s Sheriff’s Special Rescue program, and the Plain Pantry -- all groups that make our local community a better and safer place to live and visit.

Now, here is way those three organizations are important to our community:

Cascade MEDICAL CENTER will be running a ballot measure in AUGUST 2012 to continue funding the EMS services in our end of the county. In the last 30 days the EMTs have come to Kahler Glen three times and provided emergency service. CASCADE MEDICAL CENTER MAINTAINS AN AMBULANCE AND EMT TEAM ON CALL 24/7 IN THE LAKE WENATCHEE/PLAIN AREA, and is located not more than 5 minutes away from Kahler Glen. We want to maintain that QUICK RESPONSE service and need your help through contribution and participation in the silent auction to ensure we will have enough funds to donate to help them run a successful ballot campaign.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Special Operations units (Search & Rescue, Snowmobile Search & Rescue, Marine Patrol, Whitewater rescue, High-Angle Rescue, helicopter operations and K9) all need additional support. Whether we are talking about summer or winter recreational activities in the mountains or in our rivers and lakes, we count on the County Sheriff’s department to be able to come to our aid. As recreational activists we recognize the importance of the safety net of our local Sheriff’s department, well funded and equipped. The Plain Pantry is the primary food bank and emergency family service for folks living near

Plain who are having difficulties in the present economy. The Plain Pantry relies on donations to provide food and other assistance to people who need to utilize it.

In the last two years, the club has helped raised $4,000.00 for the local Chelan County Fire District and $8,700 for the building of a covered outdoor play area for the Beaver Valley Elementary School.

We need your help in providing silent auction items for the August event and we need the Kahler Glen community’s active participation in the auction. All funds raised after expenses for this event will be split three ways, between those three good charitable causes described above. If you will not be able to attend this great community event, consider sending in a contribution by mail: KG Athletic Club, 20625 Haight Drive, Leavenworth 98826. Make your check out to the KGAC and label it Music Event contribution. Or send in 3 checks listing the three organizations as they are all ‘charitable contributions’.

This is event is being sponsored by the Kahler Glen Community Association, the KG Resort and the Athletic Club. We are still seeking additional financial sponsorship. The cost for running this event is around $1500.00 and we have received a little more than 1/3rd of that amount so far.
