Have you ever wondered if other owners feel the same way you do? Many of us assume that "most" people think like we do, but none of us really know. A survey gives us a chance to see how our values compare to our neighbors'. With so many issues for the Board to grapple with, it has decided to collect better data from which to understand the community's needs and wishes.
To this end, the Board tasked a Survey Committee to collect data about owner sentiments. As noted in the July Board minutes, Carol Pierce is the Board member leading the team, whose members also include Andi Main and John Ward. The committee has met once, and is sharing this update in order to give you a chance to comment and offer early feedback. We are meeting again this weekend, and are hoping interested members of the community will offer feedback (including proposed questions) that can potentially be incorporated into the survey.
The goals for the survey are:
- To help the board organize its priorities based on community input
- To allow community members to have anonymous input to the board regarding a variety of topics, given a presumption that many members are hesitant to express their opinions because they don't want to “rock the boat” in such a small community .
Demographics
- What type of property(s) do you own? Condo, home, undeveloped lot
- Number of people in primary household
- Length of ownership (1-3 years, 3-7 years, 8+ years)-looking at differences in opinion between owners who were here before the Resort LLC came in to being
- Number of Resort shares owned? (0, 1-15, 16+?)
- We haven't discussed this in detail, but are considering questions related to owner sentiment about the current voting rights system, and whether or not owners support the CA board pursuing a change in the governance/voting rights through negotiation with the Resort board.
- What should the board’s priorities be this year? Questions regarding relative importance of timely snow plowing vs. expense (i.e. Lower cost could result in a slower response time. What performance criteria would make this acceptable or unacceptable). We might also ask how much community support still exists for x-c grooming.

- Questions about John Ward’s blog were discussed. John agrees that the future of his blog should be based on perceived owner value. Possible questions might be: how many in your household read it, do you think it provides useful information, do you think it has harmed or helped the community, do you think contributors should be required to post using their real names, do you think the blog should be discontinued?
- Open ended questions so that members can comment on various topics. How can the CA help to improve community harmony? How can we improve the general image of KG? Do you have suggestions for the Resort regarding the operation of the restaurant, pro shop, or golf course? Others?
